Destiny 2 Needs to Install Again
Hello Roctavius,
Thank you for contacting the Xbox Support forums. To confirm, Destiny 2 deletes itself only after game updates... not randomly when you launch the title post update, is this correct? When you receive "install error" are any error codes provided? I do not need details, but an error code number would help us investigate.
While I await a response, I would recommend also contacting Bungie support to confirm if this is a known issue with the latest Destiny 2 update. Please view How do I get the right game support for additional details.

Hi all, I just encountered the same issue where destiny 2 on PC Gamepass needed an update but is updating/downloading 99.6 GB worth. This is the first time it has happened to me I have not gotten any "install error". But as I was writing this post the game is finished updating(in about 5 minutes from start to finish) which would not be possible if it was actually downloading 99 GB with my download speed. So for anyone encountering this problem it might be a bug like mine where Xbox app says it's downloading 99GB but is actually only downloading the actual update size.

First destiny is no longer part of the gamepass
If you purchased it with the gamepass discount then you can keep it
But it cannot be played freely thru gamepass

I am currently having to download the complete game again. I'm absolutely fuming. This is the first time this has happened and I play destiny 2 almost everyday.
Game pass for pc is a joke.

You can play destiny 2 the base game as it is free but not the expansions as it is no longer included with gamepass
They removed it back in November after halo infinite launch

Unfortunately I cancelled it as soon as I saw it was 99 gig which proved to be a huge mistake as it somehow un installed the game. Here I am an hour into the download at 30 percent. Game pass pc download speeds are an absolute joke. 7mbs for a 99 gig game. Not happy at all! My fireteam are waiting!

Lol I purchased the witch queen. Plus the base game is still on pc gamepass. Its just the game pass for pc is so so buggy. I'll be smashing pinnicles in about 3 hours time but it's just annoying!

Incorrect. They removed Destiny 2 and subsequent expansions from the console version of Gamepass. They are still freely available on Gamepass for PC.

I have the same problem, but this is the first time it has happened to me, and I'm pissed. I have a really bad router at the house I'm at most often, so when I originally installed destiny it took over a day, now its even more and all I want to do is play some destiny.
